Applications: Road Construction

Road construction is one of the most common applications where machine control can be found. There a number of reasons for this - the complexity and size of the projects involved and the sheer number of machines deployed on these projects that can benefit from machine control technology.

Many road construction projects are already completed using 3D machine control solutions, where a DTM map produced for the project is uploaded into the machines
to enable the project to be completed to the desired
plan. The need for staking out is much reduced (in
some cases to nearly zero), and the as built surveying can also be reduced significantly.

Excavators in particular can benefit from machine
control due to the number of tasks they can be employed on around the site, such as producing accurate batters, excavations for utility installation and general earthworks.
