Tandem Lift Safely with Liftwatch Rail

The increasing use of tandem lifting has resulted in additional hazards being introduced to rail maintenance operations. The most significant being the potential of machines that have been motion cut, being pulled over by their partner machine. Tandem Lift is an optional application on Liftwatch Rail combining the safety systems on the two machines so that they work in concert with each other to increase safety. This is achieved by a secure data link between the two systems that conveys the overall system status and
ensures that motion cuts are safely invoked on both machines.

Key features of the new software include:

• Indication of both machines current SWL's percentage.
• Add-on application to Prolec's Liftwatch Rail system.
• Alerts and warnings shown on both machines.
• Motion cuts invoked on both machines when SWL is exceeded.
• Ability for the crane controller to view the system status remotely.
• Data-logging of all events and warnings.
• Independently Type Approved under 2006/42/EC.

What Liftwatch Rail - Tandem Lift does:

• Warns operators when either machine is going to go into an unsafe state.
• Prevents the possibility of machines being pulled over by invoked motion cut on either overload or envelope limit.
• The machine operators are able to monitor each other loading to allow balanced lifts.

Controller Software

Until now it has not been possible for the crane controller of a tandem lift to monitor the status of the operation. Prolec have now created an additional facility to the Lift Watch Rail Tandem Lift appllication allowing the crane controller of the lift operation to view the status of both machines and identify when they are approaching the maximum SWL.
Liftwatch Rail Tandem Lift appliance improves productivity while improving the safety of tandem lifting operations.
