About the Role

We're looking for a practical, organised and commercially aware Finance Manager to take ownership of the day-to-day finance function within our business.

This is a hands-on role covering all aspects of finance within a growing engineering and technology company. You'll be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, preparing management information, managing cashflow and supporting business decision-making.

Alongside the day-to-day responsibilities, you'll have the opportunity to help shape the future of the finance function as we transition from Sage 200 to Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central. The migration itself is being delivered by a specialist implementation partner, but you'll play an important role in helping define the processes, reporting and controls that you will ultimately own going forward.

This role would suit someone who enjoys responsibility, likes improving processes and wants to make a genuine difference in a growing business.

Flexible Working

We recognise that talented people don't always favour a traditional 9-to-5 pattern.

We're open to discussing flexible working arrangements, including adjusted start and finish times and reduced hours, provided the needs of the business are met. We believe outcomes matter more than time spent at a desk and welcome applications from candidates returning to the workplace or seeking greater flexibility around family commitments.

Business Context

Prolec is a specialist engineering business with over 40 years’ experience delivering safety and control systems for construction and plant machinery (see www.prolec.co.uk). The company operates at the intersection of hardware, software, and real-world deployment, working with OEMs, distributors, and end users across multiple geographies.

We are a growing business based in Hampshire across two sites on the south coast. We have 15 employees across product development, engineering and we are part of the Kinshofer group, but autonomous in the way we deliver our products and support both our internal and external customers. We want to become the leading transformer of construction safety and efficiency through digital mapping and 3D Machine Control systems.

“We work directly with heavy plant machinery, deploying solutions globally that directly influence how people work. We are a small supportive team who love challenges and try to understand how our skills can help an industry that’s rife for innovation. Forging close contacts and lifetime working relationships with people is both essential and a privilege. I’ve been part of this journey for more than 10 years and there is every indication that we are going to be very busy, very soon.”

Nigel Shaw [MD]

The business is highly practical and delivery-focused, operating in environments where solutions must work in real-world conditions, not just in theory.
